Liest man die begeisterten Besprechungen, die der ungarische Gitarrist Ferenc Snétberger für sein aktuelles Album „In Concert“ international bekommen hat t, staunt man nicht schlecht. Würde man es doch seit mindestens zwei Jahrzehnten, zumal seit „For My People“ (1999) für ausgemacht halten, es hier mit einem der wichtigsten, vollständigsten und eigenständigsten Gitarristen überhaupt zu tun zu haben. Doch ein Debüt auf dem renommierten ECM-Label scheint die Aufmerksamkeit doch noch einmal anders zu konzentrieren. Snétberger, Jahrgang 1957 und vielfach ausgezeichnet, studierte von 1977 bis 1981 am Béla Bartók Konservatorium in Budapest und entwickelte in der Auseinandersetzung mit Bach, dem Jazz, dem Flamenco und der brasilianischen Musik eine umfassende eigene Tonsprache, die ihn weit über das Genre des sogenannten Gypsy-Jazz hinausführte. Die auf „In Concert“ dokumentierte Solo-Improvisation „Budapest“ vermittelt eindrucksvoll aus welcher Vielzahl von Quellen Snétberger seit vielen Jahren kreativ schöpft. Besucher des Konzerts können sich von der Kunst Ferenc Snétbergers ein weiteres Mal hinreißen lassen. © enjoy jazz festival
