Crossing the borders between jazz, classical, world music, bossa nova
and more, "Joyosa" presents a new amalgamation of today's sounds - utterly
elegant, full of joy and vibrating with vitality.
Line-up:
Ferenc Snétberger - guitar
Markus Stockhausen - trumpet, fl-horn
Arild Andersen - double-bass
Samuel Rohrer - drums
Ferenc Snétberger (g)
Hungarian-born
guitarist Ferenc Snétberger is among today's outstanding players on his
instrument. Going for a synthesis of flamenco, classical music, jazz and
samba, he melts all these influences into a very personal style full of
surprise, wonder and emotion.
Markus Stockhausen (tp)
Markus
Stockhausen, son of classical composer Karlheinz Stockhausen, started
his stage career at the age of fou. An experienced trumpeter in both classical
and jazz contexts (e.g. with Ralph Towner, Gianluigi Trovesi), he approaches
improvisation with a maximum of technique reaching for unmatched melodic
invention.
Arild Andersen (b)
One
of the world's leading jazz bassists, Norwegian Arild Andersen has recorded
dozens of great albums as a leader and sideman, e.g. with Jan Garbarek,
Kenny Wheeler, Bill Frisell, Nana Vasconcelos and Don Cherry.
Samuel Rohrer (dr)
Young
Swiss drummer Samuel Rohrer is an "undogmatic non-conformist" between
jazz, improvised music and clubsounds. He showed his talents with such
as Erik Truffaz, Michel Portal and Susanne Abbuehl.
The critics wrote:
